A Gift of Thanks!

If you’re in the USA I hope you had a great Turkey day :-)

Today, I want to share a couple of things with you…

1) A very touching video I taped of my Dad

2) An invitation to help a soldier reunite with this family
for the holidays

========================================

1) A very touching video I taped of my Dad

The video you are about to see is something that brought
tears of joy to my eyes (and a choked up voice as you’ll hear
in a minute)

It started with a phone call from my sister…

She called and said that our Dad has been really worried
lately about money and retirement. My Dad is the type of
man that doesn’t usually talk about what’s going on inside;
he tends to keep everything bottled up.

So when my sister called and told me that he expressed his
worry to her recently, we knew it must be more serious
than we originally thought.

Growing up, my Dad was…

…the hardest working man I’d ever known. He never called
in sick to work. He never complained. He did what he had
to do to take care of his family. We didn’t grow up poor.
We didn’t grow up rich. We we’re middle class. But let me
tell you something… our Dad managed to give us kids a
great childhood and we love him very much for it!

And my sister…

She is the most generous person you will ever meet in your
life…

Ever since I can remember, she has always gone overboard
during the holidays and would spend way more on her friends
and family than she probably should have.

Why should this year be any different, I thought. Especially
since she had a great year with her new job.

I really shouldn’t have been so surprised when she told me
what she had bought our Dad for Christmas (yes, this was an
early Christmas gift.)

I won’t spoil it for you… just Click here to watch the
video I captured of this emotional daughter/father moment.

I titled it: “A Gift of Thanks!”

for the holidays.

I told Henry I would help him without compensation. So
please help him reunite with his family, if you can :-)

Happy Holidays!

The video brought tears to my eyes and pain to my heart because my folks are no longer with me and we cannot do for them anymore.
We try to do for others now.

Thats totally awesome man. I bought my dad a really nice fishing pole a couple years ago for his birthday and he just loved it. What a great feeling to do something really special for someone really special.

good show man.

Hi James, I was wondering whos home you took the video of your Dad and his new gift at? It certainly is a very exclusive and nice neighborhood.

James: This is the sweetest video. It is a very touching and wonderful thing that was done for “Dad”. May you have him with you for a long time to cherish and honour. (I only have memories of my parents to cherish!) Be Blessed!

James, thanks for sharing that personal part of your lives with all of us. Your sister has a big heart to do something so nice for your dad. Thanks also for adding my Seven Days of Thanksgiving link to your Blog. I’m looking forward to how this is going to come out when the sale is over. I’m praying for the chance to visit our son. I’ll also pray that your dad gets to a place of peace about his retirement years. I know that you and your family will take good care of him and that he does not need to worry but just enjoy life. Tell him Merry Christmas from the Griner family up here in Minnesota. Henry

Thanks James….great of you to share. I think he likes it!

Hi James,

What can I say but touching.

James,

I’ll bet your dad is really proud that he has raised such loving children!

Mr Grandstaff (not you James, your Dad..lol) Merry Christmas!

Now it’s your turn James, Merry Christmas to you and your entire family.

And to everyone, let us not forget the little child that was born so long ago and gave his life so that we could live!

God Bless you all!

The video was awesome…thanks for sharing.

You must be so proud of your sister and your dad must think the world of the two of you. Speaking from a mothers heart to a world that can be so cruel at times, these are the joyful moments that we must believe in. Your dad acted like what I think my dad would. With prayers and dreams that one day I too can do the same for him. Happy holidays!!

Hi James,

I think it is great that your sister has had such a successful year and was able to do this for your dad. He looked like he was in a state of awe through the whole video. :)

Thanks for sharing this with us. It’s awesome. It’s always nice to be able to help our family, friends and others.

Hi James,
Thanks for sharing this with us; One of those wonderful things.
Best wishes to you all!

Hans Fr ;-)

Oh James, what a loving and supportive family! You all are awesome! I think we need more people in the world who take care of their family members and friends so well. Your sister is so fortunate that she has had such a good year and was able to get a Jeep for your Dad! More power to her! And more power to your Dad for sharing his worries - not a very easy thing to do for someone who is as self-sufficient as I sensed your Dad is. Thank you, James, for sharing such a personal moment. Please, enjoy your family members like there will be no tomorrow because life is really too short on this earth. Good health, prosperity and wealth to you all!
